The Jars have a new promotion on the internet. It is called Search with Jars of Clay. Search With Jars of Clay is a search engine that offers you the chance to win cool prizes from Jars of Clay every time you search. It is powered by both Google and Ask.com. You can access via IE 7 plug in or the site address. You should check it out.
The person who told me about the addition to Matt’s family accidentally forgot to send me the link to verify the news. Well that has sense been fixed. And it is indeed true. Check out the link below.
For the first the Jars of Clay are allowing their fans to download a complete set of multitracks to one of their songs. The idea is to allow the fans to remix the songs as they see fit. Anyone who downloads and remixes has the option to unload the song to the site to let other listen and let others vote for their favorite remix. The song is Dead Man from Good Monsters. All 26 tracks here are 16 bit 44.1kHz WAV files ready for re-mixing. Please all multitracks are copyrighted material.
Available for a purchase from iTunes are two new Jars of Clay videos. The first video is Liquid the long shelved video from their self titled album. And the second one is the song Work from their current album Good Monsters. Both can be purchased for $1.99 each. As far as I know this is an iTunes exclusive.
I would call this a rumor for now as I have not been able to confirm it anywhere other than Wikipedia but is appears that both Jars of Clay and Caedmons Call have left Essential Records. Both bands are now independent recording artists.I would call this a rumor for now as I have not been able to confirm it anywhere other than Wikipedia but is appears that both Jars of Clay and Caedmons Call have left Essential Records. For those who use iTunes you can now purchase 2 songs from Good Monsters plus 1 unreleased song. The songs are Word (radio edit), Dead Man (Carry Me), and Love Me.
The Jars Myspace account been updated in preparation of the new album. Among things you can listen to 3 full length songs of the album. Also you can preview a song from the newest Essential Records band Leeland.
A fellow Jars of Clay fan has alerted me to the new promotional website
for the Jars of Clay's upcoming album Good Monsters coming out
September 5th. Right now it just has some extended sound bites of
three of the songs off the album, along with some video clips,
and a newsletter signup. But eventually it will have more things
like videos and pictures of the band. On a side note, the side is
funky to use.
I was informed by a friend that you can purchase Dead Man (Carry Me) off of iTunes. Dead Man (Carry Me) is the second song off of the Jars new album Good Monsters. As far as I know iTunes is the only way to get it. I think the new song sounds great.
I wanted to find a better way to write this but I time has been tight for me for the last two weeks. So instead I will just post the news release. Make sure if nothing else you listen to Drive. It is pretty cool.

Los Angeles, CA, March 29, 2006 - Sweet Relief Musicians Fund (www.sweetrelief.org) is launching a ground-breaking campaign that will allow cell phone users a new means to support the organization: Text Messaging. Working together with Mobile Accord and Music for Charity Productions, Sweet Relief will use Mobile Accord’s mGive platform to enable a direct wireless based giving solution. From April 28 - July 28, 2006 cell phone users can simply text the keyword HEAL to short code 50555 (individual song-codes below) to pledge $4.99 to the organization; Each pledge allows the donor to download limited edition Real tones (actual recordings of the songs) directly to their cell-phones. Initial participants include Pearl Jam, Tegan & Sara, Jars of Clay, OK Go and Glen Phillips.
Song short codes:
Tegan and Sara, Love Type Thing: "HEAL 1000" to 50555
Jars of Clay, Drive: "HEAL 1001" to 50555
Pearl Jam, Crazy Mary: "HEAL 1002" to 50555

The donation, which appears on the user’s monthly cell phone bill, creates an effortless means to support musicians and transforms cell phones into true instruments of healing. Sweet Relief’s “Messaging for Music" campaign will be cross-carrier enabled, allowing users on most carrier networks to participate in the campaign. Sweet Relief is also allowing donors to purchase these limited edition real tones through a unique web-to-mobile application at www.sweetrelief.org.
The songs available for download are: Pearl Jam's classic cover of Victoria Williams’ Crazy Mary (originally recorded for the 1993 Sweet Relief compilation), a hard to obtain b-side from Tegan & Sara entitled Love Type Thing, and a version of The Cars’ Drive recently recorded by 2005 Grammy nominees Jars of Clay. Additionally, through this fundraiser, OK Go and Glen Phillips (formerly front-man for Toad the Wet Sprocket) will earn the distinction of becoming the first artists to release their new singles - Oh Lately Its So Quiet and Everything But You, respectively - as charity real tones. All these tracks can be streamed exclusively through Sweet Relief Musicians Fund's My Space profile: www.myspace.com/sweetreliefmusiciansfund.
According to Damian Kulash, OK Go's front-man and one of music's leading social activists, "This promotion is the perfect example of how the music industry, mobile and non-profit worlds should intersect in the digital age. The faster and more hi-tech our world becomes, the easier it is for us to block out everyone else and retreat into our own personal universes. But, technology can also be used to connect us with the world around us, and we must try to make sure that our high-speed universe is still a compassionate one. We need to remember to keep our community as a whole and healthy one, not just ourselves."
Glen Phillips, a longtime Sweet Relief supporter whose new record Mr. Lemons, is being released May 2nd on Umami/bigHelium Records (via HighWire/Fontana), agrees with Kulash, "Sweet Relief is allowing people to support music in a greater and more modest way than buying records or concert tickets; I love that you can download a ringtone and do good at the same time."
Thanks to our sponsors: Mobile Accord, Music for Charity Productions, D'Addario Strings, My Space, Knitting Factory - Los Angeles

Within the last few weeks at a couple of their concerts, the Jars have divulged the titles of two songs that will most likely make it on their yet untitled album that comes out in September. The first song title revealed is “All My Tears” which happens to be a cover song written by Julie Miller. “All My Tears” has been described by the Jars themselves as a modern day hymn. The Jars have another version of this song that can be only be purchased through iTunes as an iTunes Original. The second song title is “There is a River”. “There is a River” is a new song they have written for the new album. Both songs have been performed in concerts within the last few weeks.
A friend of mine sent a link to a Chronicles of Narnia website he thought I might like. The link was to the trailer section of the The Narnia Academy website. On this page about two thirds of the way down in the Video Links are some streaming video links where the Jars talk about their song "Waiting For The World To Fall" that they did for the Narnia album. You can watch the video in Real or Windows media format.
This was passed on to me by a friend who received it directly from Charlie Lowell. The Jars of Clay have put a Taylor 307 Big Baby Acoustic guitar signed by a bunch of artists from the Live8 concert on Ebay. Sarah McLachlan signature is on it, as well as the entire Dave Matthews Band, Kaiser Chiefs, Chris Tucker, Rita Marley, Jars of Clay, Paula Abdul, Josh Grobin as well as some others. All the proceeds from the auction will go to the Blood:Water Mission to provide clean water for a community in Africa.
Available only through iTunes, fans can now purchase some new exclusive Jars of Clay tracks. These exclusive tracks are 5 new takes on some current Jars classics, one new Jars of Clay song preformed with Ashley Cleveland and some extra behind the scenes info. Along with these there are some other Jars of Clay songs included. You can buy the whole album for $9.99 or each individual track for $.99 each. This is must have for any big Jars of Clay fan. Check Essential Records site for more info.
After going through my junk mail the other day I noticed on MusiChristian.com they had the Music inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia album available for pre-order. The Jars were asked to write a song for the album. Their song “Waiting For The World To Fall” is the first song on the album. I have heard it live and it is pretty good.
There is a new Jars of Clay fan resource of sorts that has just opened up according to Jarsofclay.com. This resource will offer fans things like blogs, images, live tracks, contest announcements and more. If they keep this update there is huge potential here for fans to get some really cool stuff.
I forgot to post this but Jarsofclay.com is reporting that the Jars will have some special guests on their fall tour starting around October or November. The guests are as follows: Chris Rice, Sara Groves, and Donald Miller. It is most likely that some of the guest will be trading on and off during those months. Otherwise the fall tour will be very similar to their spring tour.

Moments ago while working on the next version of the Jars World I discovered that jarsofclay.com has been updated with a new look. Due to outside issues I don’t know for sure when the new look went live. While the new site is very visually pleasing, I am not a big fan of it due to an issue. There still is not a way to bookmark anything on the site. Also the fan site toolbox is temporally down.
On March 22nd the guys will have a live chat on the internet. They will talk about the new album and answers questions from the fans. For more info visit the link below for more info.
