Miscellaneous Jars Songs

Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows
This Jars song is a Petra cover for the Petra tribute Album Never Say Dinosaur. I must admit that when I first heard it, I wasn’t sure if I liked it or what. The song is about how the Church tends to forget the poor and the lonely and thinks that by ignoring the issue maybe the problem will go away.

The Chair
Definitely one of the most unique Jars of Clay songs, The Chair talks about a young lady. What makes this person special is that even though she is stuck in a wheel chair, she won’t let it keep her down or from enjoying the things of life. At first I did not like the song, but after a bit I started to realize it’s worth.
Facts about The Chair
Originally the song was made for the movie sound track the Long Kiss Goodnight. Before the Jars wrote it, they were asked to remake the old David Bowie tune Heros. It turned out well so The Chair was born. The Chair appeared on the Jars of Clay Maxi Single.
Sleepers
Sleepers is another wordless song for the most part from the Jars of Clay. Because of the way it sounds, it makes me think of jungle jazz. The song is not even two minutes long, which is a bummer. It sounds like it could go on for a bit longer.

Needful Hands
Written for the Exodus worship album, Needful Hands shows us just another way the Jars of Clay worships the one true God. The song talks about how even when he can’t do it because of our fear or whatever God still works his will through us.

If I Stand
If I Stand is a song written by Rich Mullins that was rerecorded in the "Jars style" to honor the late artists life and ministry. The song is basically a prayer. It says that the singer doesn’t want to do it on his own strength, but he wants to do it on God’s.

Everything in Between
This "Nirvana" sounding song was written for the "Prince of Egypt" soundtrack. It talks about Moses not being sure if he can handle the responsibilities handed to him by God. He knows God is with him, but there is that nagging human doubt he must contend with.
