Jesse's Song
a review by Tim
off of Sounds of Wood and Steel 3 a Windham Hill collection

The most surprising thing about this song is when it was composed and recorded. It was produced between the time of Much Afraid and If I Left the Zoo. The idea for the song originated from the mind of Matt Odmark.

There are two things I really like about this song. The first one is the warm relaxed feeling the song gives you from listening to it. The way it is composed gives real soothing sound and tempo. The second thing I like about this song is the glimpse it gives us of where the Jars were musically at that point in time. It is a different style compared to Sleepers or 14,000 feet while keeping with the same style as in Wicker Baskets.

My only real dislike is I wish the song could have been longer. I like long songs like Much Afraid Version of Frail or Silence off the Eleventh Hour. I think songs that are around 5 to 6 minutes in length are great. But that is just my opinion.
